Touch Screen Displays –Growing in Popularity

Today, touch screen displays are seen everywhere. The greatest feature of them is that they are very easy to use. Wire resistive touch screen monitors are like invisible keyboard, but it shows only those buttons and data which users need to accomplish a particular task, or set of tasks. It is because of this reason that they are widely used in variety of devices ranging from kiosks, POS, ATMs to cell phones, gaming consoles, car navigation screens and industrial machinery.

Touch screen monitors sense touch and are used to give command or input data.  The touch is generally done through a finger or hand or stylus. When you touch the screen, it processes information in the same manner as a computer mouse cursor does. The screen of a touch screen monitor is usually designed as an LCD monitor.

But now their use has widely expanded and now you can see them in varied area. Their price has also slashed down and they are now being sold at much lower prices as compared to what they were selling for only a few years ago.  

The average consumer can now get variety of technologies and models to choose from. The user must understand the main differences between different kinds of touch screen monitors available. They need to clearly understand what they expect from a monitor and then choose a design. Their requirement may often not match with what they have in the existing models in the market. In such a case, they may also ask for a customized design. 

The three most popular touch screen technologies are capacitive, resistive and SAW (surface acoustic wave). Each technology has its own advantages as well as disadvantages. Capacitive and resistive touch screen monitors are more reliable and are most widely used for industrial applications.
